Information

Below is all the vital information about the services I provide. To make an appointment or an enquiry please be sure of what you need, then go to the 'contact' page.

What is a consultation?

A behaviour consultation is designed to help you overcome any problem your pet has.

A training consultation will help you in training your animal with or without the 'clicker'. Dogs, cockatiels, parrots and even cats can be trained to obey simple or more complex commands.

The images on this page are of Raff - a good example of how and what an untrained dog can be taught to do in minutes using the 'clicker' as a training aid.

'Beg'

Telephone consultations?

It is vital to correctly diagnose the behaviour problem, so the first consultation must be made in person. However, depending on the problem, further consultations can be made over the phone. If you have any points you would like clarified prior to booking a consultation, don't hesitate to contact me.

'Roll over'

How long does it last?

A consultation usually lasts around 1-1½ hours, where the animal's history is taken and my advice given in a detailed discussion. Very often a second discussion is not needed and, though there are a few problems that can be solved 'overnight', most cases don't have a 'quick-fix' or miracle cure. Along with my advice it will obviously involve a determined effort from yourself to follow the planned action to solve the problem.

A follow up questionnaire will be sent to you 3-5 months after the initial consult. Any practical equipment I recommend may be hired to, sold to or helped to obtain for you.

'Give paw'

Where does it take place?

A consultation may take place at the Fitzalan House Surgery (Littlehampton), or I am able to make home visits if you live in the local area. Home visits are a must for felines and, depending on the problem, consultations may be made over the phone after the initial diagnosis and discussion.

'Shut door'

Do I need a vet ref?

You don't need to be registered with Fitzalan House to make an appointment. If there is a possibility that the problem has a medical cause, then I will advise that you see your vet first to rule out any physical problems. If drug therapy is advised, it is at your veterinary surgeon's discretion to prescribe medication.

How much will it cost?

Prices are not set in stone and will be at my discretion. However, this doesn't mean that you will be asked to pay over the prices listed below:

Type of consultation
Fitzalan Visit
Home Visit
Behaviour consultation: £70 £80
Training consultation: £50 £60
Puppy consultation: £30 £40
