Puppies

Myself and a pup

Do you want a safe, happy obedient family pet? My aim is to prevent problems rather than 'cure' them.

Puppy Socialisation Courses started! Click here for information

What do you do about that biting that really hurts? One of the most valuable lessons you can teach your pup is 'bite inhibition', which must be taught by 4 1/2 months or before the adult teeth start to appear. This means you will have a 'safe' dog and it may even save its life.

Toilet training can be resolved overnight and is so easy!
Socialisation/habituation, what does it mean and why is it important?
Kong feeding. Feeding your dog out of a bowl? Think again: give your dog a fabulous quality of life and excercise the brain as well as the body.
Manners. Pulling on a lead, jumping up and much more.
Teaching your pup to come, sit, stay, roll etc. brilliant fun with the clicker and easy peasy when you know how.
Understand canine body languages so you can have a positive trusting relationship with your pet.

All your questions answered.

You will also be given a free information pack and videos to watch. Booklets, clickers and kongs are all available to buy, so don't delay, book your pup in today. The younger the pup the better. For cost and booking details go to the 'contact' page.

I hope to start running puppy parties in the near future and I will keep you posted. If you have any suggestions or ideas please let me know. In the meantime here are a few tips on finding a suitable 'course' (Edited down from) first publication in 'Dogs Today' 1998.

  1. Owners and puppies look relaxed and happy
  2. Noise levels should be at a minimum, there should be no shouting or yanking
  3. Are the puppies learning how to interact socially under gentle control
  4. How many pups in the calss? can the trainers keep an eye on everyone?
  5. Are the training methods suitable? They should be gentle
  6. Is free play well controlled?
  7. Are the owners involved in maintaining contact with their puppies intermittently during the play session?
